Building relationship

At MD Accounting we work with clients across a wide range of industries and commerce. You may need our help for a small one off project but our desire is build an ongoing relationship with you that lasts over an extended period of time. Our aim is to assist you in using your accounting information so that you can continue to develop your business. The work that we do for you will always be in accord with your needs.

We will take time to get to know you at our initial meeting, which will be free of charge. At this meeting we will assess your needs and discuss at length how we are able to assist you.

Part of your team

After the meeting we’ll normally write a short email to you setting out what we discussed and our proposal as to how we can assist you. You will then be able to assess whether we have correctly interpreted your needs and you will have all the information that you require in order to decide whether to accept our services.

All the work that we do for you will be agreed in advance and be at the rates set out in our agreed engagement documentation.

On occasions it may well arise that we are not in a position to give advice because the subject in question is outside  our area of expertise. If that is the case we will usually be able to recommend a specialist in that field.
Where the work consists of straightforward bookkeeping we will do our best to source this through trainee accounting technicians working under Martin’s supervision, thus minimising the cost to your business.

Our clients like our client-focused approach and are appreciative of two aspects in particular: we step in only when formally asked to do so, rather than charging a large monthly fee whatever the level of work; and we look out for the most cost-effective options to our client in terms of staffing.

Measuring needs

Essentially Martin comes alongside business owners, enabling them to use their accounting information to manage and develop their business. This is done either by monitoring 
transactions entered into the accounts system via our on-line link or by on-site reviews.

Where an area of need becomes evident, we will contact you and offer our help. Only when the terms have been agreed will we be engaged to do the work. We have no monthly up- front fees (except for Quickbooks - see separate section) and will only charge clients for the work we have agreed to undertake. We produce detailed time analyses of any time spent.

Monitoring Performance

We passionately believe that optimising business performance through effective management reporting of results is all about the timely analysis of performance against realistically set budgets and plans. At MD Accounting we have the experience in this field to help you with this as soon as the underlying accounting records have been brought to an appropriate level. Once the main features of management reporting have been agreed MD Accounting will: 
  • Review the results with you and highlight the reasons for all significant variances
  • Assist with problem solving where results need to be improved
  • Focus on solutions and create revised targets
  • Adapt our reporting to show performance against any revised targets
  • Produce comprehensive cash forecasts to ensure that the business operates within any pre-set financial boundaries
